About
The Eating Disorders was founded in August 2006.
It is the only independent counselling group specifically designed for the treatment of eating disorders. Based in Co. Down, Northern Ireland, the Eating Disorders Network provides 1:1 counselling for individuals suffering from anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder as well as other eating disorders not otherwise specified (EDNOS).
The Eating Disorders Network has been established in order to bring back the quality of individuals lives by providing counselling, support, information, literature, and contact details of services in local areas.
The ED Network provides a service that ensures confidentiality and empathy in a secure and non-judgemental environment, which has proven to encourage individuals confidence in dealing with their experiences, and working through them effectively. we provide a space where you will be heard and respected. what is said and how you choose to move forward is at your pace, with the professional guidance and support of the network.
The service is not only for the individuals experiencing an eating disorder, but also a base for friends, family and professionals (e.g. teachers, CPN's etc.) affected by disordered eating.
Our Development Team are constantly striving to produce other programmes and services for the support and treatment of eating disorders to be available in Northern Ireland which currently include 1 day training for professionals “An introduction to Eating Disorders”, workshops for schools and youth groups as part of our preventative and early intervention strategy and continuous advice and support for the families and friends who are also affected by eating distress in many ways.
Also available is counselling for obesity with weight loss counselling and weight loss maintenance programmes. All counsellors also hold Nutritional Intervention training which supports nutritional well-being and provide techniques developing knowledge and confidence around food, body image and weight issues. |
